World Forum for Motor Museums comes to the UK
The 10th World Forum for Motor Museums will be hosted by Haynes International Motor Museum, Sparkford, Somerset, from Sunday 16 September to Friday, 21 September 2007.
The World Forum for Motor Museums is a biennial conference for people who work in motor and transportation museums. They meet to discuss the restoration and preservation of the world’s international motoring heritage. Delegates from nearly 1,000 motor museums in more than 50 countries are being invited to the 10th World Forum.
There are four themes for the 2007 Haynes World Forum for Motor Museums and they are Education, Marketing & Financial, Curatorial and General. The schedule will involve more than a dozen notable industry speakers or expert panel sessions over the five days. At the 2005 World Forum for Motor Museums, speakers included Edsel B. Ford, great grandson of Henry Ford and a member of the Ford Motor Company Board of Directors, GM Vice Chairman, Robert A. Lutz, and Trevor Creed, Senior Vice President of Design at the Chrysler Group.
The call for papers for the 2007 forum is currently being promulgated and three of the industries leading figures have already presented some extremely interesting ideas for discussion.
The Forum will open with a cocktail party to be held in the ballroom at Cricket St Thomas near Chard in Somerset and attended by some of the leading lights in the motor industry heritage world.
John Haynes OBE is Chairman of the Haynes International Motor Museum – the UK's largest exhibition of cars. He said: “It gives me immense pleasure to be hosting the World Forum for Motor Museums. At the Haynes International Motor Museum, we believe that looking at progress all over the world is the only way to cover the complete history of the automobile and motorcycle. The Forum provides vital information to the industry on global developments and ensures we sustain the future of our motoring heritage."
The forum is open to delegates throughout the world who work in motor museums or have connections with, or an interest in such museums or collections.
